Art Appreciation, Berwick St James
24 October @ 7:30 am
The Life and Works of John Constable, one of England’s most outstanding landscape painters.
Salisbury has a particular link with Constable. His Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows, arguably his most memorable painting, was one of the last of his great six footers and followed the death of his beloved wife, Maria Bicknell, who died of TB in 1828. N this presentation we will look at most of Constable’s most iconic works, to see how his paintings were so much influenced by his parochial outlook on life and his deep love of the English countryside.
Presentations take place in the Reading Room and commence at 7.30, with doors open at 7.15. Entrance: a donation of £5/per person to the Reading Room fund, to include a glass of wine, beer, or soft drinks.
