Rain proved to be no deterrent for our hardy regulars at Café.  We were especially glad to welcome back a former Wishford resident, George Hayward (thank you Joy for bringing him).  As it lashed down outside, those inside warmed themselves with mulled wine and merriment, marvelling over (and eating!) the festive array of cakes.  The triple-layered ‘Christmas presents’ cake proved very popular.  Our team of helpers turned out in force to keep those refills coming and sell raffle tickets.  Jonathan Plows gathered a group of mums and children round a table to make Christmas cards, and the church was filled […]

Café in the Church has just passed its 5th anniversary, and we are still going strong!  Our committed volunteers share their many and varied skills to help make this weekly event happen.  Those skills include baking the amazing selection we put out each week (up to 14 different items during term time!), organising the rota, coordinating and serving, recording and banking the money for church funds, as well as the practical skills that have enhanced the ‘café experience’ – such as engineering, woodwork, sheer muscle, and an eagle eye.  Those practical skills have brought about a handsomely varnished even floor, […]
