Stockton’s Village Pet Service

Lenny to anyone who might care to listen: “Is it my imagination or has a small dog just taken up residence between my hind legs?”

Rosie to Chester: “Don’t look so worried – I won’t eat you…it’s not my dinner time yet”.

The church of St John the Baptist at Stockton hosted the village pet service on Sunday 29th September.  As Creationtide was drawing to an end, it made a fitting tribute to the furry creatures of God’s creation that both keep us company, and also provide at least one good reason for what might otherwise be mistaken for talking to ourselves!  Jonathan spoke about how much our pets give to us during their relatively brief lifetimes, and Sophia read the Bible passage from Genesis beautifully.  Sophie accompanied us on the keyboard and Beth kindly gave us cuppas and biscuits afterwards.  The 5 lovely dogs who attended, Lenny, Zoe, Roscoe, Chester and Rosie, were clearly entranced …well, mainly with each other, it has to be said!  And I am quite sure that the dogs wouldn’t mind sharing the service with the odd hamster, bunny or stick insect (in their appropriate carriers!).  It was a convivial and happy occasion, which we look forward to repeating next year.

Zoe to herself: “It says water on it – not sure how to get it though….”
